Hedda’s Sisters goes to New York this November!

"Future Is Feminine - New Voices in Romanian Theater" introduces American audiences to innovative Romanian women artists who are remixing Ibsen in two theater performances at HERE Arts Center.

When and Where:
November 15 - 20 at HERE Arts Center,145 6th Ave, New York.

Ibsen Incorporated and Me. A dolls house are both performances in the Romanian 2014 scholarship winning project Hedda's sisters. Empowering Women Theatre Artists in Romania and Eastern Europe.

Both performances are presented for the NYC event "Future Is Feminine - New Voices in Romanian Theater" presented by the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York (RCINY), with support from Drama League - New York, Bucharest Odeon Theater, Bucharest Comedy Theater, Romanian Association for Performing Arts and Ibsen Scholarships.

RCINY is also announcing a round table with special guest directors Catinca Drăgănescu and Carmen Lidia Vidu and actresses Valentina Zaharia ("Ibsen Incorporated") and Aura Călărașu ("Me. A Dollhouse"), moderated by theater critic Cristina Modreanu.

A rare example of "devised theater" on the Romanian stage, "Ibsen Incorporated" is, to quote director Catinca Drăgănescu, "a way to investigate the influence of the capitalist society upon fundamental human relationships and the ways in which these relationships are reconfigured today". In this show satire becomes a great weapon for social critique.
